Peter Tenbeau passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2025, in his home in Saratoga Springs, New York, just steps from the Saratoga Race Track that he loved. He was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, on July 6, 1937.
In 1975 Peter married Alice Rianhard and they spent 50 happy years together. They spent most of their life in Albany, New York, and Warren, Vermont. Last year Alice and Peter moved from Vermont back to their house by the track in Saratoga.
Peter earned an MBA from the University of Michigan and worked for many years at the Research Foundation for the State University of New York, retiring in 1999 as the head of the Research Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Theresa (“Bobbi”) Tenbeau, and his sister, Patricia Lutz. He is survived by his wife, Alice Tenbeau, and was “Uncle Peter” to many nieces and nephews. They enjoyed their times together and are left with many happy memories of him.
Peter valued staying active throughout his life. He enjoyed working out every day, along with skiing, tennis, horseback riding, and following horse racing. He also had many close friends, who will remember him for his energy and fun.
There will be a celebration of Peter’s life in the near future, details will be published when available.
