Maurice Edward Hayssen (Maury) passed over peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, NY.
Maury was born on January 19, 1947, in Seneca Falls, NY, to Maurice S. and Florence Miller Hayssen. He graduated from Mynderse Academy and attended Southampton College.
Maury spent most of his adult life in Waitsfield, Vermont and was a true Vermonter. His passion for skiing and adventure was well known in the Mad River Valley and beyond. Maury enjoyed paddling his kayak in the summer months, especially while visiting his cabin in Maine. He loved sharing his maple syrup with friends and family.
Maury worked various jobs in Waitsfield and for the last several years owned and operated 2-100 Appliance Repair.
Maury is survived by his sister, Johanna Macdonald, his brother, Bob (Susan Ottenweller) Hayssen of Seneca Falls and his nephew Alec (Lori) Macdonald of Camarillo, CA, and many friends in Vermont.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Maury at a later date.
