The celebration of life for Maury (Maurice) Hayssen will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 4:30 pm at Stark’s Pub at Mad River Glen. There will be food, drinks and sharing of stories and memories.
Born in Seneca Falls, NY, Maury moved to the Mad River Valley when he finished college in the early 1970’s.
Maury was a true Vermonter. He was a passionate skier and his professional life always worked around his ski plans.
You may remember Maury from his younger years when he worked at Chez Henri’s. Or from his years when he owned To100 Appliance Repair. He was proud of Maury’s Marvelous Maple Syrup which he made in the woods behind his home and gifted to family and friends. Maury loved going to “the cabin” in the Maine wilderness, where he helped friends repair cottages and kayaked and canoed on the lake. He enjoyed pitching in to help his friends and neighbors.
When Maury’s health declined, he returned to the Fingers Lakes to be near family. He died on April 11, 2026. He was 79 years old.
Maury is survived by his sister, Johanna Macdonald, brother Bob Haysssen (Susan Ottenweller), his nephew Alec Macdonald and his many Vermont friends.
