Ileen (Langlois) Symonds, 90, of Montpelier, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

She was born on September 28, 1916, in Belmont, NY, to John and Ella (Santamore) Buska. Her family moved to Vermont when she was eight and she was educated in Middlesex schools.

Ileen was married to Vincent Langlois on February 15, 1935, until his death on December 25, 1971. She then married Thomas Symonds from 1978 to 1981.

She was employed as a cook at the Miss Montpelier Diner for 24 years, at the Pizza Shop at School and Elms Streets in Montpelier, at the Barre Steam Laundry and at Vermont College.

Ileen attended Christ Church (Episcopal) in Montpelier.

She is survived by sons Vincent Langlois and his wife Jean of Lynchburg, VA, and Kenneth and his wife Marilyn Langlois of Gaust, Texas; daughters Nancy Whitney of Rochester, NH, Dorothy Lee and her husband Douglas of Ormond Beach, FL, and Christine and her husband John Audy of Moretown; sisters Joyce White of Berlin, Isabell Spires of Wisconsin and Delia Nissen of Massachusetts; and five generations of over 120 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Ileen is predeceased by her son David Langlois, daughters Romona Grace Gabaree and Barbara A. Nutbrown; son Donald William, who died at birth; brothers Olin J. Buska, Kenneth Buska, Morris Buska and Meyers Buska; and sisters Leona White, Betty Young and Marion Gabaree.

Graveside services will be held in Middlesex Center Cemetery at a later date.
