Mary Elizabeth Magee, 75, Waterbury, passed away in the comfort of her home and family on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Born in Duxbury on May 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Grace) O'Brien. On June 22, 1955, she married Robert C. Magee Sr. in Waterbury. Mr. Magee predeceased her on January 9, 1995.

Mary was a 1950 graduate of Waterbury High School and as a young woman, worked at the former First National Grocery Store in Waterbury. Following her marriage, Mary was busy as a homemaker and raising her family. She later went to work for the F.C. Luce Co. in Waterbury, first in the clothing department and later in the hardware department. Most recently, Mary was employed for many years by Waterbury True Value from which she retired in 2006.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed walking, needlework, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and her large, loving family. She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury.

Mary is survived by her five children, Kellie Magee of Duxbury, Robert C. Magee Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Duxbury, Michael Magee and his significant other, Sheila Towne, of Bolton, Shannon Magee of Waterbury, and Shawn Aaron Magee and his wife, Wendy, of Duxbury; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; a sister, Kathleen "Tippy" Lumbra of Waterbury Center; three brothers, William O'Brien and his wife, Lorraine, of Essex Jct., Harry O'Brien and his wife, Louise, of Waterbury, and Charles O'Brien and his wife, Georgia, of Moretown; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Aryana and Talon Magee.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Inurnment will follow services in Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre VT 05641.
