Rufus Andrew Kimball, 94, of Moretown, died at Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center on September 12, 2007.

He was born in Westford, VT, on December 7, 1912, to Edwin Brigham Kimball and Alice May (Beers) Kimball. He attended schools in Essex Center and Burlington, VT. He married Constance Marie Calkins in Milton on July 3, 1937.

Rufus worked for the Vermont Maple Cooperative in Essex Junction, Leader Evaporator Company in Burlington, the Cary Maple Sugar Company in St. Johnsbury, and the Vermont Department of Agriculture.

He was a member of the South Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury, and a Past Master of Seneca Lodge #40 F&AM in Milton. After retiring, he was active in the Jayville Balsam Riders Snowmobile Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Rufus is survived by his wife, Constance, at the Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center; sons Frank Kimball of Portland, ME, and Warren and his wife, Susan, Kimball, of Moretown; daughter Karen Connely and her husband Jack of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren Jamieson Kimball, Stacy Kimball, Sara Castro, Catherine Cournoyer and Lizzi Messenger; and great-grandson Dillon Cournoyer. He is predeceased by his son, Wayne, previously of St. Johnsbury.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Barber & Lanier Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Montpelier.
