Carol A. Purdy, 64, of Snyder Avenue, Johnstown, NY, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 10, 1944, in Moretown, VT, the daughter of the late Gerald and Agnes Hoffman Dunbar. Carol was employed by Frontier Communications in Gloversville and retired on April 1, 2008.

She enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Fox Run Golf Course and the Johnstown Women of the Moose.

Survivors include her husband, George Purdy Jr. of Johnstown, whom she married August 21, 1993. She is also survived by her sons, Anthony (April) Mobus of Port Charlotte, FL, and Scott Mobus and his companion Daniel of Seattle, WA; two brothers, Bernie Dunbar and Bruce Dunbar, both of N. Fayston, VT; six sisters, Lorraine (Ron) Barlow of Sun City Center, FL, Janice (Don) Hanlon of N. Fayston, Val (Dave) Angolano of Shelburne, VT, Sheila (Gordon) Stoodley of Perkinsville, VT, Jane Welcome of Colchester, VT, and Doris Audet of Northfield, VT; three stepchildren, Richard (Connie) Purdy of Hope Falls, Lynne (Doug) Illsley of Mayfield and Lori (Dave) Barton of Gloversville. Ten grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Cedric Dunbar.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.
