Joyce Ilene Burbank
Joyce Ilene Burbank, 88, passed away at
Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington the evening of April 24,
2009. She was born February 20, 1921, in Cabot, VT, the daughter of the
late Leo and Marion (Badger) Burbank. Joyce attended St. Johnsbury
Academy and Santa Ana (CA) high schools, graduating in 1939.
Continuing
to reside in Yorba Linda, California, until 1964, she returned to
Vermont to care for her mother. As a member of the Waitsfield Federated
Church she was active in many church functions which led to her love of
quilt making.
Joyce is survived by her son, Charles L. Burbank
and wife Debbie of Morrisville, a brother, Edwin Lester Burbank and
wife Connie of Cape Cod, MA, and three grandchildren, Seth Burbank,
Hannah Burbank and Emily Judd, and great-grandson Liam Marcus Burbank,
as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters,
Christine Hutchins and Dorothy Kenyon, and three brothers, Lee Allen
Burbank, Charles Laurence Burbank and James Norris Burbank.
Her
family also wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care and attention
afforded Joyce during her stay at Birchwood Terrace. At Joyce's request
there will be no services. The Holcomb-Des Groseilliers Funeral Home of
Johnson is in charge of arrangements.
