Frena Ellen Cutler

Frena Ellen Cutler, 89, of Moretown, passed away at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin on Wednesday evening, October 28, 2009. Born in Jericho on March 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Milo J. and Mildred (Tinker) White. On August 12, 1939, she married Mervin E. Cutler in Waterbury. Mervin predeceased Frena on November 19, 1990.

Frena attended schools in Jericho, Waitsfield and then Montpelier Seminary. As a young woman, Frena worked at the former Ward's Store in Moretown and then was employed as a clerk at the Moretown Post Office from which she retired in 1985. Her memberships included the Moretown United Methodist Church where she taught vacation Bible School, the Moretown PTA and Home Dem. In her leisure time, Frena enjoyed vegetable gardening, knitting and crossword puzzles and was well known for serving generations of families her homemade popcorn balls at Halloween.

Frena is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Griffith and her husband Corliss of Moretown and Sharon Cutler and her companion John Fulton of Moretown; her grandson, Keith Griffith and his wife Elena and their son Bogdan, all of Barre; her sister, Hildred Cooney of Rutland, MA; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Frena was predeceased by two sisters, Edith McLaughlin and Norma Kingsbury, and two brothers, Warren White and Wilmer White.
