Hugh Henry McIntyre, age 86, of Westview Meadows, Montpelier, died at his home on Wednesday, November 25, 2009.

He was born in St. Louis, MO., son of Henry Blodgett and Gladys Miller McIntyre.
He served as a pilot in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1947 and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1950. He married Eleanor Eckerson in Pittsfield, MA, in June 1950.

He was a consulting engineer in Waitsfield until his retirement in 1985.
 
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Henry Blodgett and wife Lucille McIntyre of Litchfield, ME; a daughter, Ann M. Maxfield of South Burlington; six grandchildren, Jason and wife Marcey McIntyre, Sarah and husband Ryan Kelley, Benjamin and wife Nicole McIntyre, Andrew and wife Danielle Maxfield, Alexis and Abigail Maxfield; nine great-grandchildren, plus one on the way, many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, William N. and wife Bette Eckerson, and a brother-in-law Charles L. Ward.

He was predeceased by his three siblings, John McIntyre, Hannah Jeffrey and Harriet Ward. A service was held at Christ Episcopal Church in Montpelier on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, followed by a private burial ceremony at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
