Bruce G. Hanna, 65, of Waitsfield, VT, formerly of Greenspond, NJ, died October 18, 2010, in Haverhill, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, on February 10,1945, a son of the late Frank W. Hanna and the late Angelina (Botten) Hanna. Bruce was a talented athlete. His baseball team made it to the National Little League World Series with his Union City, NJ, team in the 1950s. Bruce also played four years of varsity tennis and four years of varsity basketball for the University of Vermont and in his senior year of 1966-67 was captain. Bruce was an avid skier as well. Bruce also received his master's degree from Montclair University.

He is survived by his wife, Dorcas (Brannum) Hanna; two children, Robert B. Hanna and his wife Cigdem of Medfield, MA, and Joshua I. Hanna of Waitsfield; two grandchildren, Reis Hanna and Kayla Hanna; also by his two sisters, Diane Earl and her husband Dave of Westford, MA, and Rosemary Bliss and her husband Jack of Monroe, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Howard Hanna.  


His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 23, at 10 a.m. at the Saint Simons of the Apostle Church on Greenspond Road, Greenspond, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830 or to your local Alzheimer's Society.
