Maurice G. Gaboriau, 80, of Main Street, Waitsfield, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

Born in Quebec on January 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Henry and Irene (Bellefleur) Gaboriau.

Maurice attended schools in Quebec. In 1948, he moved to Vermont where he was employed as a farm hand at Weston's Farm. He later became a self-employed carpenter of which he enjoyed working up until his retirement.

In August of 1957, he married Marie Magoon in Montpelier. The couple made their home in Montpelier.

He later married Doris Johnson in Florida. She passed away. Maurice resided in Palatka, Florida, for a short time, returning to Vermont where he made his home in Waitsfield.

His memberships include St. Monica Church of Barre and The Eagles in Florida.
Among his interests were music, dancing, fishing and he especially enjoyed his family.

Survivors include one daughter, Michele Gaboriau, and her companion, Robert Newton, of North Fayston; one son, Mark Gaboriau, and his wife, Ramona, and their four children of Johnson. He is also survived by nine brothers and sisters. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by one brother and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. There are no calling hours.

Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Albans on Saturday, November 13, at 2 p.m.
