Hildred I. Cooney, 81, of Rutland, MA, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Dade City, Florida. Born in Moretown, July 1, 1929, she was the youngest child of Milo J. and Mildred (Tinker) White.

Hildred attended Moretown School and was a graduate of Waitsfield High School. She moved to Rutland, MA, and worked for the Devereux Foundation, retiring in 1992 as food service director.

Her favorite pastimes were gardening, bowling, golfing and going to the Senior Center. Hildred enjoyed traveling, trips to Florida and her most memorable vacation to Hawaii in 1987 with some family members and friends.

Hildred is survived by her two sons, Donald H. Cooney Jr. of Rutland, MA, and Michael C. Cooney of Columbus, NE; her loving companion Robert Dumas of Rutland, MA, and Dade City, FL; grandchildren Douglas Cooney and his wife Crystal, and Amy Cooney, all of Columbus, NE; two great-grandsons, Taylor and Brayden Cooney, whom she loved dearly, of Columbus, NE; her beloved pet "Tiger"; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald H. Cooney Sr., in 1983, her parents and siblings: Edith McLaughlin (1993), Norma Kingsbury (1985), Frena Cutler (2009), Wilmer White (1998), and Warren White (2009); and granddaughter Michelle Cooney.

A memorial service will be held December 9, 2010, in Holden, MA, and a private committal on December 10, 2010, will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown.
