A good friend passed away recently. We did not see as much of Thom as we would have liked since we moved. It always seemed that we were busy with our travels and family, while they were also busy with guests, business and family or they were off on another world adventure. We enjoyed reading about their international travels when they wrote about them in The Valley Reporter. We know that their photo albums from these trips will always have special meaning for his wife Joan.

Millie and I will have our memories of skiing together at Mad River Glen and our trips together to Utah and Colorado. In fact, we will never forget skiing together at MRG when Millie broke her leg the day before we had a full house arriving at our inn. Thom and Joan were always there for us.

The tragedy of Thom's passing will forever change the character of The Valley. The Millbrook Inn was one of the last family-run inns with traditions that dated back to 1947 with Mad River Glen and the beginning of skiing in The Valley. Thom's culinary treats brought people back to Millbrook time and again. We will miss you, Thom; you were always a good friend and we will never forget our good times together.
