Ervin J. “Buster” Greenslit Sr., 72, of Evergreen Place, Waitsfield, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, March 7, 2011. Born in Warren on August 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Marsena and Ruth (Varney) Greenslit. Buster was previously married to the former Judy Pearce.

Buster attended schools in Warren and Waitsfield. As a young man he went to work at the Bowen-Hunter Bobbin Mill in Warren and then worked in construction on the Alpine Village development. Buster later was employed as a mechanic at Hap’s Service Station in Waitsfield, was a truck driver for Gallagher Lumber in Middlesex and was a lift operator for Sugarbush ski area. Most recently he worked in the highway department for the town of Warren, from which he retired. Buster was also a member of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, crossword puzzles, attending stock car races at Thunder Road, as well as spending time with his granddaughter, Kelci, who was his pride and joy.

Buster is survived by three sons, Mitchel Greenslit of Barre, Miles Greenslit and his companion Sue Sleeper of Barre, and Ervin Greenslit Jr. of Warren; his granddaughter, Kelci Greenslit of Waitsfield; four sisters, Marcella Pierce and her husband Bill of Bradenton, FL, Marilyn Miller of Warren, Jilda Greenslit of Waitsfield, and Judy Ryan of South Barre; a brother, Allen Greenslit and his wife Sherry of Waitsfield; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial services will be held from the Warren United Church on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Warren Town Hall.
