Richard H. Reisner, 67, of Fayston, VT, passed away in the comfort of his family at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, VT on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Born in Washington, DC, on November 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Frederick W. and Gyda (Hansen) Reisner. On July 13, 1997, he married the former Sally Anne Demarest in Westfield, NJ.

Richard helped found several startup bio-medical device companies, the most recent being Exogen, Inc. of Piscataway, NJ, where he went on to serve as vice president and chief financial officer.  Retiring to Fayston 10 years ago with his wife Sally, Richard enjoyed being an active member and past president of Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports and recently was proud to have earned his Professional Ski Instructor certification. His other memberships included the Mad River Valley Rotary Club and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.  While living in New Jersey, Richard was an active member of St. Helen’s Parish Community and was a board member of the Union County Coalition to House the Homeless.

An accomplished lifelong sailor, Richard and his wife Sally enjoyed their summers on Lake Champlain.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sally Anne Reisner of Fayston; his daughter, Ingrid Reisner of Philadelphia, PA; his son, Erik Reisner and his wife Lisa and their children, Anabelle and Madeline, of Warren, VT; two stepsons, Scott Boyd and his wife Suzanne and their children, Emma, Maxwell and James, of Olympia, WA; and James Boyd and his wife Stacey and their children, Lilly and Levi, of Condon, MT; a sister, Barbara Young of San Raphael, CA; a brother, William F. Reisner and his wife Anne of Wicomico Church, VA; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Together with his oncology team, headed by Dr. John Valentine, Richard waged his battle against leukemia for nine years, never allowing the cancer to impact his quality of life. He and his wife were able to travel the world together. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.

A memorial celebration will be held by the family this summer.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports (www.vermontadaptive.org) or to the Mad River Valley Rotary Club (P.O.
