William B. Heise, “Bill,” a former resident of Waitsfield, passed away surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Trujillo, Honduras, of complications from multiple myeloma on March 8, 2011, at the age of 68. Born and raised in Newark, New York, Bill was the son of Bernard and Evelyn Heise.

Founder of Heise Metal Sculpture, he studied art at Buffalo State College, briefly taught and began a life of prolific sculpting. He was passionate about art, nature, athletics, windsurfing, his family and life in general.  His warm heart, dry humor and love of life touched all those who knew him. He had the ability to see the heart of a person, what was important in life, and had immense loyalty to his friends and family.

We thank Dr. Barbara Grant and her team, Joann Nielson, Dr. Francisco Dunning, Linda Forseth and Bill Eichorn for their heartfelt contribution to Bill’s quality of life and care.

Bill is survived by his wife Carol of Trujillo, Honduras; his children Johanna, spouse Louis and their children Milla and Lucius of Utila, Honduras, Stefan of Brooklyn, NY, and Eric of Burlington, VT; their mother Pat; his brother Don and spouse Bev of Calais, VT; nephews Coby and his spouse Niki and their children Maddox and Gage of Calais, VT, and Chad Heise of Cabot, VT.
