Sharon Ann Ward, 59, of Granville, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

She was born June 10, 1952, in Miami, FL, the daughter of Donald and Claire (Hess) Foley.

Sharon was raised in Miami, FL, and Newburyport, MA. She attended schools in South Miami and graduated from Newburyport (MA) High School.

From 1974 to 1978 she attended Owensboro College in Owensboro, KY, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Sharon had lived in Corydon, KY, and Waitsfield, VT, before moving to Granville. She had worked at the Sugarbush Ski Resort, the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce and most recently was a reservationist and hostess at the Hyde Away Inn & Restaurant in Waitsfield. Sharon loved children and enjoyed gardening and cross stitch.

She is survived by her husband George Ward of Granville; two daughters, Rachael Prewett of Vergennes and Bekka Ward of Granville; two brothers, Dean Foley of Waitsfield and Jeffery of Barre; two grandsons, Michael Delisle of Granville and Justin Mongeur of Rochester; and three nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her granddaughter Shawna Brown.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held Saturday, October 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Granville Town Hall.
