Imogene “Jo” Bisbee passed away peacefully on November 3, 2011, at The Ruleme Center in Eustis, Florida. Jo was born on December 10, 1927, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to Robert and Okla Boone Garland. On August 10, 1945, Jo was married to Robert Bisbee at Langley Field, Virginia. After Bob’s discharge from the service, they came to Waitsfield, Vermont, where they made their home.

Jo was involved in many community activities. She was active in the Waitsfield Federated Church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was girls’ high school basketball coach for several years. She also served on the Waitsfield School Board. Her favorite activity after her family was grown was golf. She played in the State of Vermont Ladies State Days for many summers. She also was a member of the Tri-State golf team for several competitions. She also helped Bob and Doc Bisbee in Bisbee’s Hardware Store. In 1992, they retired to The Plantation at Leesburg, Florida. While in Florida, Jo continued to enjoy playing golf and singing with the Friends-In- A-Chord, a barbershop group, as well as the Plantation Choral Society. She also enjoyed working at Universal Studios for several years.

Jo is survived by her husband Bob and their three children, Sandi Bisbee Mix (Philip) of Leesburg, Florida, Jimsey Bisbee of Lexington, South Carolina, and son Robert Bisbee Jr. of Mt. Dora, Florida, and her grandson Robert D. Mix of Fruitland Park, Florida. She is also survived by her sister Ardella Kalkes of Leesburg, Florida, and brother-in-law Richard Bisbee of Waitsfield, Vermont, and a very special aunt, Pauline Brown of Virginia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services until spring 2012 with a graveside service at that time in Waitsfield, Vermont. Page-Theus of Leesburg, Florida, is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that there be no flowers; however, contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Family Org., P.O. Box 1939, New Port Richey, FL 34656 or to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 in Jo’s memory.
