William “Bill” George Rogowski, 81, of Marco Island, FL, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Avow Hospice of Naples after having a stroke two days before.

Bill aka “Big Rogo” was a man who graced all with love and kindness, a man who would help a stranger, never complain and who had a strong work ethic. He was a man who worked hard all his life, adored his family and loved his precious wife, Joan, of 58 years. This world would be a better place if we could learn a little from such a wonderful man.

Bill moved to Sugarbush in the mid 1960s to open The Rogues’ Restaurant with his wife Joan and his younger brother Ron.  Bill worked diligently to make this ski area restaurant one of the most popular in North Central Vermont.  After selling this restaurant, Bill and Joan purchased a small inn, also located in Sugarbush Valley, where he incorporated a restaurant and lounge to the business.  During his years in Vermont, Bill also managed the very popular Blue Tooth Bar and Restaurant as well operating the restaurant at the Sugarbush Golf Club.

After serving customers for several years in the restaurant business, Bill retired to the “good life” in Marco Island, Florida, in 1988 to be near his children, Dale Rogowski Blodgett and Jay Rogowski.  Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Miller Rogowski; daughter, Dale Rogowski Blodgett of Marco Island, FL; son, Jay Rogowski and wife Susan of Scottsville, NY; six grandchildren, Jamie Blodgett and Alex, Christian, Michael, Jayson and Matthew Rogowski; younger brother, Ronald 'Ron' Rogowski and wife Hanni of Naples, FL; and sister-in-law, Lynn Rogowski, wife of his older brother Robert 'Bob' who predeceased him July 30, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, a small contribution in Bill's memory may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL  34105.
