Raymond E. Robinson, 81, of Tolland, CT, beloved husband of 59 years to Cynthia (Burt) Robinson, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 6, 1930, in Montpelier, VT, the son of the late George Jr. and Bertha (Anderson) Robinson.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Mary Naphen and her husband Jeffrey of Tolland; his son James Robinson and his wife Marie of North Pomfret, VT; his brother Lenord Robinson and his wife Gene of Warren, VT; his grandchildren Elisa Latreille and her husband Ryan, Graham Robinson, Joshua and Seth Naphen and Garrett Robinson, as well as several nieces and nephews and a former daughter-in-law Annette Petrucelli.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Robinson.

He was an electrician who worked in the electrical department of UConn Health Center for 23 years before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and spent many months in Korea. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who always put his family first. He never missed a family gathering. He also was a man of very few words; he felt actions spoke louder than words. His family knew his devotion through all of his actions.

He enjoyed the outdoors, chopping wood and gardening. Raymond was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, Tolland, CT 06084. The family will receive friends and relatives for calling hours that will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow directly at South Cemetery also in Tolland. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make your memorial contributions in Raymond’s name to Visiting Nurses and Health Services, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
