Anna Schmeltzer is student of the week

Anna Schmeltzer is a talented musician who loves to sing. This year, she has gotten involved with the Harwood assembly band where she sings in the schoolwide assemblies that occur every other week.

“It’s really fun to work with the other singers on adding our own little twists to songs that everyone knows and loves,” she revealed.

She also sings in the high school chorus and the honors choir I Cantori and participates in the school musicals.

Schmeltzer, a junior, currently works as a teaching assistant in the eighth-grade chorus class. She appreciates being able to experience the teaching perspective of a classroom and says it is one of her favorite classes this year.

When she is not in the chorus room, she can be found spending time with friends, playing card games or playing around on her piano.

Schmeltzer enjoys spending time outdoors. She runs for Harwood’s cross-country team and loves to ski at Mad River Glen, which is not too far from her home in Moretown.

She has a passion for travel and plans to take part in Harwood’s Rwanda trip next year. In the future, she hopes to experience the countries of Scandinavia.

“One place that I have always wanted to travel to is Finland, because there is this place with giant glass igloos that you can stay in and see the Northern lights as you sleep, which would just be the most beautiful and awesome thing ever!” she said.

If she were to win the lottery, Schmeltzer would spend a portion traveling the world with her family.

Once she graduates, she hopes to attend college after spending a year abroad in either Europe or South America. While in school, she would be interested in pursuing a degree in either forensic psychology or criminology.
