“This year’s Jump Rope for Heart event will be held on February 14, a day dedicated to affairs of the heart,” says organizer Leigh Clark, who adds, “We’re talking about cardiac fitness, however, not romance.”

Warren Elementary received the Division III award for second place last year.

All students will have an opportunity to come to the gym during the day to have fun jump roping to music and to promote their own good health. They’ll also have the option to raise funds for the American Heart Association to help fight cardiovascular disease. Envelopes will be handed out for those who choose to collect donations for the American Heart Association.

According to Clark, the Warren School Jump Rope for Heart day helps teach students the importance of a healthy heart. Jump roping is a great activity to help reduce obesity in children. Heart disease is the number one killer and stroke is the number three killer. Heart disease and stroke are the leading cause of serious disability. Cardiovascular disease ranks as the number three cause of death for children under age 15.

All donations are tax deductible.
