Mikhal Yudien named member of statewide volleyball team

The Vermont Youth Volleyball Association recognized four students from Vermont Commons School in South Burlington as members of the statewide All-League team for the 2014 season, including Mikhal Yudien, outside hitter, Class of 2015, from Fayston.

Vermont Commons School has a girls' volleyball team and a boys' volleyball team. Led by coaches Peter Goff, Ben Patrick and Bill Orleans, the VCS girls' volleyball team won the Vermont state volleyball championships in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012. The state tournament was held at Johnson State College on Saturday, November 8.

GMVS athletes named to Vermont All-State Soccer Team

Six Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) student athletes were named to the Vermont All-State Soccer Team last week. Girls’ team members include Eva Shaw, Ali Nullmeyer and Lindsey Crowell, while Brian Chambers, Seb Gonin and Logan Slattery were named to the boys’ team. Seniors players were invited to participate in the Senior Classic at Mt. Abraham Union High School. The Senior Classic brings All State team members together to play three shortened games, and it serves as a major determinant in selection of the Lions’ Cup team to play against New Hampshire next summer.

Of particular note is that Lindsey Crowell was nominated as a freshman and that both Logan Slattery and Eva Shaw are also candidates for All-New England honors.
