Three Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) student athletes, Chauncey Morgan, Ben Ritchie and Hannah Utter, were honored at the Vermont Alpine Racing Association (VARA) banquet on October 24 . Morgan and Utter earned spots on the 2016 VARA Team for being both U16 VARA State Overall Champions and Gold Medalists at the U16 Eastern Championships. Ritchie received the George Tormey merit scholarship award for being “an athlete who excels at a second sport and best displays a strong work ethic, strong character and a deep love of sport.” In addition to earning podiums at the U16 Vermont State Championships and winning the slalom at U16 Nationals, Ritchie is also an accomplished road cyclist, cycle cross and mountain bike racer.

GMVS alpine director Steve Utter says, "VARA truly commits to supporting Vermont's ski racers and giving them opportunities to be the best. GMVS is proud of our racers for their successes and grateful to VARA for the programs and scholarships it provides."
