Duncan Brines with Nancy Mercer and a donated boot at the Chez Henri Cup after party.

Seventy-seven skiers and nonskiers participated in the 28th annual Chez Henri Cup ski race and raffle on Saturday, March 19, at Sugarbush. Proceeds from the race went to the Mad River Valley Health Center that provides a quality facility to practitioners of health care here in The Valley. The event began Friday night with a fondue party at Chez Henri. Racers and nonracers registered for the race and for the "after" party raffle. Participants received Chez Henri Cup hats and a preview of the major prizes that would be awarded at the post-race party. Thanks to Chad Koenig, race director for Sugarbush, everything went smoothly.

The next day, Saturday, each racer took two runs on the Racer's Edge NASTAR course. The best combined time of the two runs determined the racer's time. The best time for the women was 01:06.1 set by Noreen Knortz and Chris Lowenstein had the best men's time of 0:58.55.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the gang got together at Chez Henri to congratulate each other, receive their medals and hopefully win one of the more than 40 prizes. Organizers thanked all those merchants who donated prizes and thanked the participants who have once again made the Chez Henri Cup one of the premier events of the ski season.
