Harwood field hockey went without a score for the third time this season in a 2-0 loss to U-32 on Thursday, September 22.

With 1:18 left in the first half, the Highlanders gave up the first goal of the game. The game trickled on through the second half until U-32 scored again with 13 minutes left in the game.

Even with a push at the end of the game, the team was unable to overcome a strong U-32 defense.

“Anytime you lose there’s not just one specific thing; there’s usually a few things that aren’t either going your way or you’re not quite on top of your game,” Harwood coach Heidi Hill said after the game. “I will say our senior center midfielder went home extremely sick so that was quite a game changer for us in terms of filling her spot,” she continued.

Abby Reagan filled the hole in center and played very well, Hill said.

“It was also a nice opportunity for some of the other girls to step up their game as well,” Hill said.

The Highlanders moved to 3-3 after this loss and after playing Milton on Monday.

Their next game will be at Missisquoi Valley Union on Friday, September 30.
