Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen are kicking off the 2016-17 winter season this Saturday, November 19. Similar to the last couple of years, The Big Kicker is at American Flatbread at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield from 5 to 10 p.m.

For the past six years, Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen have joined together to host a communitywide celebration to kick off a snowy winter. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with local beer and flatbread pizza. There will also be free desserts, s’mores, hot cocoa, cider, cornhole, music and dancing.

Sugarbush Parks and the Mad River Glen Freestyle Team host an open rail jam at 6 p.m. The rail will be open to the public until 10 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the party will move indoors for films by event partners, including Flyin’ Ryan, Vermont Adaptive and Ski the East. High Fives will also hold a live auction for a season pass to each mountain.

Historically, this event attracts a large crowd of excited skiers and riders to celebrate a new season. The Mad River Valley draws a unique winter community and The Big Kicker is the first event of the season that brings this community together.
