Kyle Marie Hekeler of Harwood Union won the women’s high school cross-country classic race at Stowe on January 25, 2017, hosted by Montpelier.

Harwood put a total of four boys and girls on their respective podiums at the Stowe Cross-Country Classic race on January 25.

The Highlander girls handily won the event and the boys placed third.

Harwood’s girls stole the show, filling up the podium in the varsity race and four out the top five spots. Sophomore Kyle Marie Hekeler led the team with a time of 15:26. She was followed by her two teammates, junior Jordan Kulis and senior Madeline Strasser.

Harwood also finished with two more in the top 10, Anneka Williams and Erin Magill, who finished fourth and ninth, respectively. The only two Harwood girls outside of the top 10 were Anna Jamieson in 15th and Chloe Riven in 17th.

Senior Noah Eckstein was Harwood’s top finisher for the boys. He placed second with a time of 12:33, just 15 seconds behind first place.

Harwood boys had five more finishers on Wednesday. Walker Caffry Randall finished 13th, Tyler Skroski finished 16th, Cam Alberghini placed 18th, Colin Fennery was in 26th with Seth Davidson in 32nd and Brendan Magill in 35th.
