Sugarbush golf pro and 2006 PGA Professional National Champion Ron Philo will be defending his title this weekend. Philo, who joined the Sugarbush team this past winter, will tee off in the 40th PGA Professional National Championship this Thursday in Sunriver, OR.

Philo captured the 2006 title in dramatic fashion in a sudden-death victory at the Atunyote Golf Club in Verona, NY, last June. The 41-year-old began the last day of the tournament trailing the leaders by three shots. That quickly changed when he birdied the second hole and aced the par-3 third hole.

The hole-in-one was the third of his career and put him in contention for the lead. Philo grabbed the championship three holes into a sudden-death playoff. The victory put him in the company of such legends and past champions as Bob Rosburg and Sam Snead.
Coverage of this year's Championship begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. on the Golf Channel and will run through Sunday. For the latest on the Sugarbush Golf Club visit sugarbush.com.
