To The Editor:

I understand and am sorry to hear that neighbors at Drumleys Condominiums on German Flats Road have been bothered by noise at the Slide Brook Lodge. I have known owner Alex Peff since he first opened 10 years ago and have always found him to be a hardworking, respectful and responsible individual.

As we all know, The Valley is a tough place for businesses to survive. Alex has filled a void by creating a place where guests can stay in an affordable room in The Valley as well as offering a place for his patrons to eat and enjoy live music. Of course, there will be times when it is loud as it is impossible to patrol guests at all times. Out of respect for his neighbors, Alex chooses to stop serving his customers at 1 a.m. when he is licensed to serve until 2 a.m.

Furthermore, let us not forget that since Alex opened the Slide Brook, three restaurants in close proximity have gone out of business. Currently, Alex is serving phenomenal Thai food prepared by a native Thai woman. I sincerely hope that the Drumleys neighbors can come to a resolution as it would be a tremendous loss to The Valley if the Slide Brook was forced to close because of a revoked liquor license. If neighbors of the Slide Brook desire a place free of noise, perhaps they should move away from a major road in a mixed commercial/residential zone.

Please join me and stand up for the Slide Brook Lodge!
