To The Editor:

After a many-year hiatus, the Mad River Valley Little League brought back girls’ softball in 2018, making our league more inclusive and providing a better option for girls. While girls are still welcome to play Little League baseball, having softball teams will give the girls a league of their own. And the league will help Harwood Union Middle and High School by providing a feeder program and getting more girls involved. We are planning to build on our successful 2018 season by installing a new softball field. While the field and backstop currently exist, we need to install an all-clay infield and dugouts. MRVLL is in the process of fundraising to make this field a reality. We have secured grants from the Couples Club and the Mad River Valley Recreation District; however, we are still in need of additional funding to make this project a success. The Mad River Valley Little League board of directors is actively seeking donors looking to make an impact on the community and our new softball program.
