To The Editor:

This letter is addressed to the Mad River Valley community and visitors,

Please be aware that hunting season in Vermont runs from September 1 through December 15. During this time, hunters are in the woods and it is critical that anyone entering the woods wear bright orange or red, preferably hunter's orange to differentiate themselves from wildlife. We also recommend that your animals wear orange. Hunting is a valued part of Vermont's culture. Please help protect and respect everyone by following these guidelines.

Just a note on bear season, happening now, it is not uncommon for hunters to use bear dogs, you may encounter them without their owners on trails or even on your property, they can be identified by their GPS tracking collars. These are working dogs, do not feel like you must help them or interact with them.
