To the Editor,

Back in the day, my son was a member of the skateboard gang who practiced their tricks in front of the Warren firehouse and on the waxed curb outside the house adjacent to the post office. As a parent, I was concerned about their safety, in part due to passing cars, but mostly because of their risky habit of not wearing helmets or kneepads.

Today, as we again discuss traffic-calming measures in Warren village, I would like to know what the statistics over the last ten years, for accidents, deaths and injuries involving pedestrians and cyclists due to speeding vehicles on Main Street or Brook Road.  I call upon the select board and The Valley Reporter to make these figures public so we can best assess the situation and reach reasonable conclusions.
