In order to keep everyone informed, I want to update you regarding an incident impacting Brookside Primary School.

At approximately 11:15 am, the Vermont State Police contacted the school and advised that we institute a “secure the perimeter” due to police activity on Stowe Street.

Students were brought inside and we ensured that all exterior windows and doors were closed and locked. Currently, all students and staff are safe and we are operating as normal inside the building.

Until advised otherwise by the Vermont State Police, we will remain in “secure the perimeter” at Brookside. This means that no one is allowed to enter the building and we cannot release students at this time. We are advising parents to not attempt to pick their child up until further notice. It is recommended that people stay clear of this area at this time.

Last fall I had conversations with the Vermont State Police and they clearly stated to me that they will contact the school and provide direction regarding what school should institute safety procedures based on police events. At this time only Brookside is impacted.

Thank you for your ongoing support, cooperation, and concern as we work together to safeguard the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

Please reach out to me directly with questions or concerns. As mentioned above, all students and staff are safe and we are proceeding with the advice of Vermont State Police.
