Warren announces the upcoming construction phase of the new Warren Town Green pavilion. Following the successful completion of the concrete foundation earlier this year, Warren builders Corrigan & Klein Artisan Builders will now begin erecting the timber frame structure atop the existing slab.
The pavilion features an innovative gabled design that allows access from all sides, embodying the town's commitment to equality and inclusivity. This thoughtful architectural choice ensures the pavilion will serve as a welcoming gathering space for all community members and visitors.
"As both a builder and a Warren native, this pavilion represents everything I love about our town – open, welcoming, and built to last generations," said Devin Klein Corrigan, co-owner of Corrigan & Klein Artisan Builders. "The four-gabled design isn't just architecturally beautiful; it's a physical manifestation of our community values. By creating equal entrances from all directions, we're crafting a space that welcomes everyone, regardless of which path brings them to our town green."
Corrigan is also the chair of the Warren Select Board.
The project has been a community effort from the start. Made possible through a successful crowdfunding campaign sponsored by the Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development's Better Places program and generous donations from local contractors, the pavilion represents Warren's community spirit.
Corrigan & Klein Artisan Builders, who have been constructing and renovating homes locally since 2013, are providing most of their construction services pro bono.
"I am so impressed with the craftsmanship of Corrigan and Klein in building such an impressive structure," said Warren resident Jim Crafts who has been volunteering his time sanding and oiling the frame. "The town will be happy for the next 300 years."
Community members are welcome to observe the timber frame-raising process from a safe distance. The assembly of the roof system is scheduled to begin on May 3 and will be raised with a large crane on May 4 at 10 a.m.
The Warren Village Green will be designated as an active work zone during construction. For safety reasons, public access will be limited to areas approved by Corrigan & Klein Artisan Builders, who will determine participation in the community build phases of the project.
