The Mad River Riders are here to help folks get their biking season rolling with the Cranko de Mayo. The event raises funds for the Riders’ trail crew, coaches for the Rippers program, and several events and programs.

Participants can choose from three ride options. The easiest is the “Pan Comido” which translates to “Eaten Bread”, a Spanish phrase that means piece of cake. It's 19.5 miles with 2000 feet of climbing. The route avoids the steepest roads so riders can get up to the views without killing themselves.

The intermediate ride is the “Ni Muy Muy, Ni Tan Tan” which means not too hard and not too easy. It's 33 miles with 3800 feet of climbing.

The hardest ride, fit for the likes of local legends Fletcher, Marilyn, or Adam, is the “Una Priebe de Fuego” which means trial by fire. It is 40 miles long with almost 5800 feet of climbing.

All rides start at 10 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025. All start and finish at Madbush Falls in Waitsfield. There will be aid stations out on the course at about the halfway point of each course to keep people refueled. The afterparty will double as the Mad River Riders' season kickoff party.

“So, stick around to learn about our plans and get psyched for all the riding ahead,” said spokesperson Bob Kogut.
