Duxbury Budget

Duxbury voters will be asked to pass a town budget that calls for raising $1,183,524 in from taxpayers for the town’s FY27 budget. Duxbury’s budget year runs from July 1 to June 30 and the town is currently in its FY26 budget which ends in June.

The FY27 budget is down from the town’s FY26 budget of $1,311,654. The town is anticipating increased revenue for FY27, projecting $278,583, up from $242,790 for FY26. The town’s new solar array is expected to generate $12,350 in revenue for the town.

The balance of the budget is lean with most categories coming in below last year’s budget. While many local towns are budgeting for increased salt costs in their highway budgets, Duxbury is dropping its salt budget from $43,750 in FY26 to $19,250 in FY27. The town’s total highway materials budget is dropping from $360,250 for FY26 to $272,250 for FY27. The highway equipment budget is dropping from $155,350 in FY226 to $132,550 in FY27.

Road crew wages increased from $368,100 in FY26 to $386,821 for FY27. With taxes, retirement, benefits, overtime and uniforms, total road crew expenses still dropped $100,000. FY27 total highway costs are $832,871, down from $932,356 in FY26.

There are small increases in employee wages, resulting in officer and employee proposed expenses of $169,619 in FY27, compared to $168,910 for FY26.

 

 

 

 

In the town buildings and grounds category, proposed FY27 expenses are $9,325 down from $20,300 in FY26. Clerical services are basically flat with $30,045 proposed for FY27, less than the FY26 amount of $30,875.

Duxbury contracts with Waterbury Ambulance for its EMS services and has budgeted $61,465 for FY27, up from FY26’s $56,520.
