Jessamine A. Larrow, 101, after a long life well lived, passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2019. Born in Waitsfield on April 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marguerite (Milne) Bettis. On December 31, 1940, she married Everett M. “Jack” Larrow in Rutland. Jack predeceased Jessamine on May 21, 2004.
Jessamine was a graduate of Waitsfield High School and then went to work as a clerk at the Waitsfield Post Office. Following her marriage, she was happy and busy as a homemaker and raising her family. In later years she worked at the Cricket Club Nursery associated with Mad River Glen.
Jessamine’s memberships included Maple Rebekah Lodge #56 of Waitsfield, Mad River Valley American Legion Auxiliary Unit 75 and Waitsfield United Church of Christ. In her leisure time she enjoyed a variety of card games, especially cribbage, puzzle books and word search, and in younger years going to community dances with her husband, Jack. Jessamine took great pride in her family and was meticulous in the care of her home.
Jessamine is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lyn Larrow of Waitsfield, who took care of her mother for the past 18 years; her grandchildren, Anthony Brown and his partner Cindy Belisle, Timothy Brown and his wife Meg, and Raymond Griffith and his wife Kristen; and her great-grandchildren, Natasha Nelson, Aleshia Griffith, Garrett and Natalia Brown. She was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey Brown; an infant son, Terry Everett Larrow; and a great-granddaughter, Shawna Linn Brown.
Graveside services will be held from the Irasville Cemetery on June 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the dining room of Waitsfield United Church of Christ.
