Raymond Farnsworth Obituary PhotoRaymond H. “Cricket” Farnsworth, 84, passed away at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Friday, October 18, 2019. Born in Fayston on July 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Merlin and Edna (Nelson) Farnsworth. Raymond met the former Alice M. (LaFleur) Norris and they were wed on June 12, 1959, in Moretown. They had enjoyed 44 years of marriage until Alice’s passing on November 12, 2003.

Raymond attended schools in Fayston and Moretown and then as a young man worked on the dairy farm owned by Ralph and Robert Wimble on Moretown Common. Following, Raymond held several positions over the years which included working as a millhand and truck driver for Ward Lumber Mill in Moretown, a bulk milk truck driver for several years and then as a heavy equipment operator for Gregory Viens in Fayston along with driving a log truck for Bud Wimble. Raymond was then hired by the Vermont State Agency of Transportation where he plied his skills as a heavy equipment operator and snowplow driver. He retired following over 30 years of service to the citizens of central Vermont.

For over 25 years he and Alice enjoyed seasonal camping at Lake Dunmore. In addition, he loved spending Wednesday evenings with the boys at deer camp in Moretown, Friday night dinners at the Rustic Restaurant in Northfield Falls for the past 15 years, following NASCAR racing, and every opportunity to gather with his family, times he truly cherished.

Raymond is survived by his children, Linda McGrath and her husband Mike of Moretown, Suann Lackey of Northfield Falls, Lisa Calkins and her husband Garren of Danville, Michael Norris of Northfield Falls, and Randy Farnsworth and his wife Renee of Northfield Falls; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Merlene McLaughlin and her husband Edwin of Harrisburg, NC, Margaret West of Worcester, MA, Janet Dolloff and her husband Gary of Dade City, FL, Ruth Morlock of Framingham, MA, Eugene Farnsworth and his wife Patricia of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Merrill Farnsworth and his wife Robin of Waterbury Center; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Raymond was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth LaRock, and brothers, Royce Farnsworth and Roger Farnsworth.

Graveside services will be held from Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown on Friday, October 25, 2019, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Moretown Town Hall.
