JohnMcNally obituaryJohn McNally lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at his Florida home on October 14, 2019. He was born in Denbigh, Wales, UK, on February 1, 1942, the son of the late Maurice McNally and Dilys Margaret Jones McNally.

John was educated at the Becket School in Nottingham and received his engineering degree from Bristol University and a business degree from Edinburgh University. John’s work as an engineer/construction manager/consultant took him and his family around the globe.

John was gregarious, energetic, outspoken and fun. A loving husband, father and grandfather, who was generous with his advice and opinions. He was also an avid sportsman, who enjoyed cricket (he was a member of the Venezuelan National Team competing in an international tour in South America), and hiking (he summited several peaks around the world, including a 5,000 meter-plus one in Columbia). But he was especially keen on skiing and sailing and he shared these passions with his children and grandchildren. John and Christine sailed their boat from Borneo to Newport during a 10-year cruise.  John also skied everywhere, but Mad River Glen was a favorite and he loved bringing friends and family to share his affinity for the Stark Mountain trails.

John is survived by Christine, his wife of 50 years, his daughter Michelle of Stuart, FL, his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Kelly and his grandchildren Owen and Gavin of Newport, RI.

A celebration of his life will be held in Vermont this February, more details to follow.
