Keating

Shawn W. Keating, 60, of Fayston, VT, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2025. Born in Worcester, MA, in 1964 to Robert and Margaret Keating, Shawn was the youngest of four children.

Shawn grew up mostly in Massachusetts and New Jersey and moved with his family to Florida in his late teens where he met Jane, with whom he shared many years of marriage. During that time, he helped raise her two children, Tressa and Carl, and was proud of his role as stepfather.

Shawn and Jane later moved to Vermont to be closer to his siblings and family in New England. Known as a gentle giant and a friend to all, Shawn found his greatest joy in time spent with others – whether at poker nights with friends, family gatherings, or his beloved annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration where he could wear his Irish heritage with pride. His nieces and nephews affectionately called him “Uncle Bunk,” a name he wore with pride and humor.

Shawn loved his dogs, enjoyed working on old trucks, taking on metal welding projects, and creating rustic wood furniture. He loved working with his hands and took pride in bringing new life to worn and weathered things. In recent years he traveled and explored the western part of the country which he enjoyed immensely.

Shawn worked in many industries, but his most meaningful work was as a direct support professional and home care provider, where he touched the lives of youth and adults with developmental disabilities.

He is survived by his siblings Colleen Keating Orrell, Robert Keating, and Kevin Keating, numerous nieces and nephews, stepchildren, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren through his extended family.

Shawn will be remembered for his kind heart, easy laughter, and the way he made everyone feel welcome at his table.

A memorial celebration is being planned to honor Shawn and will be announced at a later date. The Day Funeral Home in Randolph is assisting with arrangements. Visit www.dayfunerals.com for updated service information.
