March 31, 1955 – May 6, 2026
Helen Marquardt, 71, passed away peacefully May 6 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vermont. Born and raised in Ansonia, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Virginia Marquardt.
Marquardt moved to the Mad River Valley in 1980 with her daughter, Cristal Brown. She worked at various locations in The Valley, including long tenures at the Golden Lion Inn, Waitsfield Children’s Center and Mehuron’s Market.
Helen had her fair share of struggles, but fought breast cancer with her heart and soul. She had a big heart, she was generous, kind, and a spunky soul. As Helen would say, “I’m doing it my way.”
She enjoyed entertaining, gardening, cooking and attending classic car shows with her late husband, Roger Lanphear. She was also an avid reader of Danielle Steel novels and a fan of hockey, which she loved watching her granddaughter play.
Marquardt is survived by her daughter, Cristal Olson, and son-in-law Doug Olson of Oregon, Wisconsin; granddaughters Xandria, Lexi, Lyla and Bella; and her dog, Bear. She was preceded in death by her parents; her godson, Adam Snow; and her husband, Roger Lanphear.
The committal is scheduled on June 13, 2026, at 1 pm at the Warren Village Cemetery.
