ObitRemsing

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved wife, Kathy Remsing, formerly of Warren, Vermont, who passed away peacefully at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, Illinois, on May 15, 2026, at the age of 67.

Kathleen Ann Crete was born on October 12, 1958, in Barre City, Vermont, to Andrew and Eleanor Crete. She was a cherished daughter, a loving sister, a devoted wife, and a dear friend whose warmth touched the lives of so many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew R. Crete and Eleanor Crete (née McElaney); her sister, Karen M. Crete; and her brother, Michael A. Crete.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Thomas J. Remsing, whom she met in 1991 and married in 1996; her brothers, Donald Crete, East Barre, Vermont, and Kevin Crete, Tucson, Arizona; and her nephews, Cameron Rossi-Crete, Barre City, Vermont, and Aiden and Zachary Crete, East Barre, Vermont.

Beyond her family in Vermont, Kathy also held close in her heart her nieces and nephews through marriage — Candice Kwiecinski, Kristin Hill, Shannon Remsing, Sean Remsing, Ryan Remsing, Jordan Nelson, Tyler Nelson, and Joey Remsing—as well as their children: Reese, Ella, and Kylan Hill; Clara and Faylinn Remsing; Izzy and Emmett Remsing; Emery and Addie Nelson; and Presley Kwiecinski-Locasio.

Never at a loss for words, Kathy had a lively spirit and a gift for bringing laughter wherever she went. She was quick-witted, full of personality, and always ready for a good story or her next adventure.

She will be especially remembered for her caring and compassionate heart. During the last five years of her life, Kathy devoted herself to caring for her mother-in-law, Margaret Remsing, serving as her steadfast companion and caregiver. Margaret passed away just three days later, on May 18, 2026, at the age of 94, at her home in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

A graveside service will be held later this summer in central Vermont, followed by a gathering in Kathy’s memory. The date, time, and location will be forthcoming.
