Norma J. Lanphear, 64, of 16 North Main Street, Waterbury, passed away at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, following years of declining health.

Born in Ogdensburg, NY, on July 14, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice Pike. She was previously married to the late Royce E. Lanphear.

Norma attended schools in Waddington, NY. Following her marriage, she and Royce moved to Waitsfield in 1961, where she was busy as a homemaker and raising their two children. Norma began her employment, working as a chef, first at the Christmas Tree Inn and later for Norm's Restaurant, both in the Mad River Valley. She later worked in food service at the Mad River Glen ski area as well as Sugarbush North, retiring due to declining health.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, motorcycle riding, as well as spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by her children, Vickie Lanphear of Waitsfield and Roger Lanphear and his wife Helen Marquardt of Waitsfield; her four grandchildren, Cristal Vasseur, Tyler Sabin, Chelsey Lanphear and Britney Sabin; four great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial services were held at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Saturday, April 28.  Private inurnment took place in the Mountain View Cemetery in Essex.
