Norman Charles Folsom, 64, Waitsfield, died at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Born in Farmington, ME, on April 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Francis and Alma (Pillsbury) Folsom. He was previously married to the former Wendy White.

Norman was a 1961 graduate of Farmington (ME) High School where he lettered in skiing, track and field, and football. He continued his education at the University of Maine - Orono, graduating in 1963. From 1964 to '66, he served with the U.S. Army and following his discharge moved to the Mad River Valley where he was employed as a carpenter for many years. Most recently he worked on the Elwin Neill Farm in Waitsfield.

In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing cards and watching his son's stock car races.

He is survived by his sons, Grant Folsom and Garret Folsom, both of Waitsfield; a sister, Joan Hargreaves of Farmington, ME; three brothers, Roger Folsom of Waitsfield, Duane Folsom of Farmington, ME, and James Folsom of Englewood, FL; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial services will be held from the Waitsfield United Church of Christ on Friday, December 7, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church dining room. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641, or to the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center Patient Activities Fund, 98 Hospitality Drive, Barre, VT 05641. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
