The Valley Reporter - Lois (Pestle) Richardson

Lois (Pestle) Richardson of Waitsfield, Vermont, died at home Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Survivors include a son, Curtis M. Richardson, of Thetford Center, Vermont, a daughter, Cleora J. (Richardson) D'Arcy of Urbana, Illinois, a sister, Ruth E. Pestle, of Waitsfield, grandchildren Meriden E. and Grant C. D'Arcy, and Karleen A. and Colby B. Richardson. She was predeceased by her husband, Conwell M. Richardson, her brother, Ray I. Pestle Jr., and a grandson, Carter M. Richardson.

Mrs. Richardson was born in Herkimer, New York, on May 21, 1923, daughter of the late Ray I. Pestle and Cleora (McClurg) Pestle. She married Conwell M. Richardson of Waitsfield on May 30, 1942. Mr. Richardson died on March 2, 1964.

Mrs. Richardson was a graduate of Waitsfield, Vermont, public schools and Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York. She retired from the Yonkers New York Public Library in 1982. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Red Sox.

A private memorial service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Unitarian/Universalist Church of Montpelier, Vermont.
