Edward H. Mongeur, 53, of Whalley Park, Waterbury, died at his home on Saturday, February 14, 2009, following several years of declining health. Born in Montpelier on May 22, 1955, he was the son of Doris (Raymond) Mongeur and the late Robert D. Mongeur. He was previously married to the former Debra Bettis.

Ed was a 1973 graduate of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. He was employed throughout his life in construction in the central Vermont area and was known as an exceptional woodworker. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping, as well as suduko and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by a son, Eric Mongeur of Stowe; his mother, Doris Mongeur of Waterbury; a sister, Shirley Dow of Waterbury Center; two brothers, Marcel Mongeur of Waterbury and Rocky Mongeur of Barre; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services will be held from Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury on May 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641.
