Ruby E. Dalley, 96, of Waterbury and formerly of Moscow, passed away in the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, May 31, 2009. Born in Moores, NY, on January 22, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Clara E. (Duprey) Abare. On October 13, 1934, she married Braman O. Dalley in Waterbury. Braman predeceased Ruby on December 24, 1973.

Ruby attended the Rock Bridge School in Moretown and then Waterbury High School. As a young woman, she worked at the former Waterbury Inn and then following her marriage, Ruby was happy as a homemaker and raising their daughter. She later was employed as a housekeeper in the home of Thomas J. Watson in Stowe, retiring in 1987.

Her memberships included St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas - Court St. Theresa, all of Waterbury, was a charter member of VFW Auxiliary Unit #9653 of Morrisville, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #64 of Stowe, the Waterbury Historical Society, AARP, the National Council of Senior Citizens and the Women of the Moose in Barre.

In her leisure time Ruby enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and for many years dancing with her beloved husband Braman.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Ann Wysong and her husband Kenneth of Columbus, OH; three grandsons, nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Cornie Hough of Waterbury, Grace Lee of Moretown and Marie Carri of Tennessee; three brothers, Richard Abare of Morrisville, Jerome Abare of Alaska and Robert Abare of Moretown; her longtime close friends, Joyce Sweeney of Colchester and Al and Carol Perkins of Berlin; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Wednesday, June 3, at 12 p.m. There will be no calling hours. Interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 95, Waterbury Center, VT 05677.
