Andrea Deane, 55, of Haddam, CT, died in her home February 2, 2012, nine months after learning she had a brain tumor. Andrea was born in New York, NY, the second of five children. She is the daughter of Joan Javits Zeeman and the late Hans Zeeman of Palm Beach, FL, and Waitsfield, VT.

Known as Ande to her friends and family, she grew up in Larchmont, NY, attended Mamaroneck High School, graduated from Northfield Mount Herman, and received her BA at the University of Vermont and her masters at Wesleyan University. She graduated from the Cordon Bleu in Paris, apprenticed at The Four Seasons Restaurant in NYC and was associate food editor at Weight Watchers Magazine. She went on to a successful career as a freelance food stylist, with her work featured in several cookbooks published by Clarkson Potter as well as for Bon Appétit, Cuisine and Parade magazines before moving to Haddam, CT, in 1986 to raise a family. She was the chef at the president’s house at Wesleyan University for 10 years where she oversaw all official catering functions for three presidents.

Since 1999, she has focused on her fine art painting career and had several successful exhibitions. She will be deeply missed by her husband Eric, children Kaeli and Jessup, her mother Joan, siblings Jon, Eloise, Phoebe, Merrily, the rest of her family and many friends.

There will be a memorial service at the Westport Inn in Westport, CT, Sunday February 12, at noon.
